Case Study: MAMK for Eduserv Digital Identities Workshop

This post is a collection of thoughts which will constitute my own personal take on a “digital identity” case study.

Thoughts on my Digital Identity

Some brief thoughts about my own digital identity.

.

Prior to the workshop we will be collecting a series of “stories” about digital identity from people attending the event. On the day, we will be working in groups to discuss and add to the stories. Following this, we will analyse the stories in order to find reoccurring themes or patterns.

    Hey, Mark!

A very interesting video, thank you. A lot of thoughts and questions generated from it, one relates to my research interests and one is more generalised curiosity.

I am interested in the ways in which new “social” technologies and services can be exploited by the National Health Service (NHS) in supporting patients in managing their own self-care. Examples such as Wii Fit and HealthSpace come to mind. My question is how do you think digital identities differ for organisational entities such as the NHS? Is their digital identity more or less “accountable” in comparison to their physical identity?

Secondly, do you see variations between Generation X and Generation Y/Z digital identifies in terms of the “truth” in which they speak? Often I find myself overwhelmed, and intimidated, by older generations (I'm in my early twenties) and their (perceived) exceptionally experienced digital identities. Sometimes this leaves me feeling de-motivated, and although it doesn't necessarily lead me to distort the truth in my own identity, it leaves me with a distorted view of the physical world based on my digital interactions.

Look forward to more videos and thoughts.

    Mark
