The following article about the “ethics dilemma in killer robots” touches on some important issues regarding the AI, robotics, security and ethics.  It inspires much thought about future applications of robotics in boarder patrols along the North-South Korean boarder.  Read and ponder.  I did, and if the scenarios presented are really true, then I think the future of robotics has many problems.

Personal Jihad

I have been slow on pasting due to the fact that I am tying to stay above water with the numerous deadlines and various responsibilities I have. Normally I would fall for the excuse that “I am not blogging because I do not have the time”, but in reality I do see a value in making an effort to keep a regular journal. The value in keeping a regular journal is that regular and consistant posting help engender a frame of discipline (which I seem to be lacking at the moment). Ah, the eternal struggle between the self that “wants to do what it wants” and the self that “does what it needs to do”. I call this my “Personal Jihad”. I am undergoing a personal struggle with myself (not just of the superficial level mentioned above, but) regarding life in general. (more…)
